A FORMER Deeside resident is encouraging people to vote for him after being nominated for a 'prestigious' award.

Paul Harrison, 32, moved to London to pursue his creative dream of interior design.

The former Connah's Quay resident has since been nominated for an award and is asking the people of Deeside, and beyond, to vote for him.

He said: "I run an interior design blog giving people tips and advice. I've been running it for two years.

"Every year there's an award ceremony for people running blogs and websites for all sorts of things.

"They (Amara) approached me about a month ago and said they liked the look of my website and would like to nominate me for the award.

"It's quite a prestigious award in my industry. For years I have always seen and followed people online who have been nominated for this very award so just to be nominated is amazing."

Paul has to go through a voting process to get to the shortlisted stage where he would attend the ceremony, which is where the winners are announced.

He added: "I was very shocked to be approached, it's an amazing thing to know there are people taking a genuine interest in what I love.

"I have always been creative and passionate about interior design. I went to Deeside college and went to uni in Preston where I got a job in London where I've been for three years.

"My advice for people would be, if you are passionate about what you do then keep focus on it, keep at it because you never know who is looking and who will approach you.

"Always stay positive, always take an opportunity when it comes and focus on your love in what you do, because you just never know what is around the corner."
