A PENSIONER used her car to pin a woman up against a gate because she was angry her victim's horses were grazing on her land, a court heard.

Lesley Adamson was said to have used her vehicle “as a weapon” after she became embroiled in a dispute with Kelly Gibbs on land near the Flo Gas site at Cross Lanes.

Mrs Gibbs was trying to take her horses from a field she rented from Adamson when an argument broke out and she was trapped by the defendant’s car.

She suffered bruising to both her calves.

Adamson, 67, of Pont Wen, Caia Park, appeared for sentencing at North East Wales Magistrates’ Court in Mold after being convicted of assault by beating following a trial.

Prosecutor Justin Espie said that Mrs Gibbs was “lawfully removing” her horses when Adamson turned up with a friend on April 23 this year.

“Mrs Gibbs was holding ropes for the horses but the defendant drove her car towards her and trapped her up on the gate,” said Mr Espie.

“She was screaming for the car to move back. It was effectively being used as a weapon.

“She was in so much pain she attempted to get the defendant to move the car by swinging with the ropes and caused the windscreen to crack.”

Probation officer Pamela Roberts said Adamson claimed her victim had “dumped her horses on her land”.

“She denies causing any injury to the victim,” said Ms Roberts.

The dispute, she said, stemmed from a relationship breakdown involving members of both women’s families.

Euros Jones, defending, said: “The only injury was a small bruise to her calf.”

Magistrates placed Adamson under a 12-month community order in which she needs to complete 10 rehabilitation activity days. She was also fined £60 and told to pay costs of £620 and a victim surcharge of £30.
