A SEARCH and rescue group is looking to recruit more supporters to cover the North East Wales area.

NEWSAR is the mountain rescue service that covers North East Wales and is encouraging people to join the team.

Those who are unable to commit to being on call 24-hours a day and unable to become an operational member, still have the chance to join the team as a supporter group member.

A spokesman for the team said: "NEWSAR Supporters is the support group of North East Wales Search and Rescue.

"By joining NEWSAR Supporters you will be helping NEWSAR to provide a rescue service, even if you do not have the time, skills, experience, or fitness required to be active in the hills yourself.

"By joining NEWSAR Supporters, you are donating your valuable time to provide professional skills in areas such as finance, marketing, law etc. or helping at fundraising events, writing letters, assisting with maintenance at our Base and, if you wish, taking the opportunity to join us for team exercises.

"We actively encourage all NEWSAR Supporters members to visit base where a warm welcome awaits. In exchange for your time we will send you a regular newsletter and emails inviting you to take part in team events plus a membership card entitling you to discounts at some outdoor shops."

Anyone wishing to apply can do so online at NEWSAR.
