A CHILDREN’S hospice near Oswestry has been named as the charity partner for the new Oswestry 10K.

Hope House Children’s Hospice, based in Morda, will be the charity partner for the event which takes place in October.

Runners can enter the event for a reduced registration fee if they can achieve a fundraising target of £100 for the hospice.

In return, each runner will receive a free Hope House running vest, fundraising pack and support up to and on the day of the Oswestry event, and the Welshpool 10K, which takes place in March 2020, organised by Alan Lewis.

Hope House fundraiser, Lynsey Kilvert, said the hospice is delighted to be the charity partner for the event.

“We are absolutely thrilled to be chosen as the charity partner for the event,” she said.

“It’s a great idea and will be an event to bring the community together and bring new people to Oswestry.

“It also encourages people to challenge themselves as well as supporting the hospice and making a difference to the lives of so many children and their families who need our help.

“Being Oswestry’s local children’s hospice, we are really pleased to be involved.

“The children and staff are looking forward to cheering on the runners as they run past us on the route.

“We need £6.3 million a year to keep doors open and our services running.

“Without the support of people like Alan and all those running for the hospice, we simply wouldn’t exist.”

n The Oswestry 10K will be held on October 13 and entry for the event costs £21.50.
