Mr Rowlands, 66, said: “It was something we had been thinking about for a while, but we decided to go ahead and do it, and I’m just glad that we were able to raise as much money as we did for such a good cause.

“We also held a raffle to help with the money raising, with the prize being a big case of Fosters lager, which was won by a June Hughes, as well as a car boot at Bryn-y-Grog on the Saturday.

“The experience wasn’t too bad for myself as I didn’t have too much hair to lose as it is, but for my wife Katie and for Peter, they had a lot of hair to lose so they’ve been especially brave doing this.

“We’d like to thank everyone who’s been involved, particularly to Henry who shaved our hair at The Welch Fusilier, and of course to everyone who donated a single penny, we’re very grateful.”
