A MEDITATION centre in Cheshire are set to run a 4-week course in Wrexham for people looking to become happier and more tranquil.

The Odiyana Kadampa Meditation Centre is a residential Mahayana Buddhist Centre and training college, providing study programmes, meditation retreats and day courses.

The centre is running the course, entitled Meditation for Modern Problems, at The Quaker Meeting House on Holt Road every Tuesday night from September 3 at 7:30pm.

Each class will comprise of two meditations and a talk, then discussion over tea and biscuits.

A spokesperson for The Odiyana Kadampa Meditation Centre said: “In recent years our knowledge of modern technology has increased considerably, and as a result have witnessed remarkable material progress, but there has been no corresponding increase in human happiness.

“There is no less suffering in the world today and there are no fewer problems, indeed, it might be that there are more problems than ever before.

“The reason for this is the problems are internal problems and we can’t solve these with external solutions. Happiness is a part of the mind, a feeling, so the real source of happiness must lie within our mind.

“If our mind is peaceful we will be happy all the time but if our mind is unpeaceful then we will never be happy, however much we try to change our external conditions.”
