BROUGHTON Shopping and Leisure is set to launch four weeks of free activities to keep kids entertained during the summer holidays.

These nature-themed events are led by costumed characters and will take place from 11am - 4pm each Saturday and Sunday during the summer holidays, until September 1.

The first activity kicks off this Saturday (August 10) where the all-singing, all-dancing ‘BEEBoys’ will be leading fun and interactive dancing workshops for kids.

Over the coming weeks shoppers will also be joined by the ‘Litter Bugs’, who will guide families on a litter-picking adventure, and can take part in sessions with the ‘Eco Explorers’ to learn about the natural world around them.

Over August bank holiday, families are invited to get their dancing shoes on at the Dragonfly Disco Divas’ silent disco.

Alan Barker, centre manager at Broughton Shopping and Leisure, said: “The summer is a busy time for parents and, talking from experience, it can be difficult to keep children occupied. “Our free events offer the chance to try something a bit different while learning something along the way.

“We can’t wait to see families exploring and dancing their way around the centre.”

As well as taking part in the fun events, families can also make the most of Broughton Shopping and Leisure’s exclusive summer play area which includes a giant leaf-shaped sandpit, a larger than life frog, Croakington, as well as a pop-up selfie cube.

The full programme of weekend activities include interactive dance sessions with the BEEBoys on August 10-11 and the Litter Bugs recycling-related games on August 17 and 18.

August 24 and 25 will see the Dragon Fly Silent Disco, a silent party with headphones and on August 31 and Septembet 1 will be the Eco Explorers - where people can explore the centre with a magnifying glass to discover nature.
