MUSIC lovers came together to enjoy a summer evening at a forgotten bandstand in Holywell.

A newly formed community group held a successful night of Summer Jazz at the Old Wire Mill, Greenfield Heritage Park.

Local music lovers were invited to bring their own chairs and picnic for a relaxed evening of jazz music provided by local musicians.

Emma Ward, events manager, said the evening was a huge success.

She added: "We held a similar event in 2012 and we have been asked for a repeat ever since.

"The community group approached the Heritage Park to obtain the necessary permission and licence which were extensive.

"We, as a group, took responsibility for clearing and tidying the enclosure which involved grass cutting, the cleaning of walls etc.

"It was of paramount importance to ensure the safety of the public and, to this end, Shaun Paul of Black and White Security Solutions, a local Company, provided security free of charge as a contribution towards our efforts."

The music was organised by James Corbett, a local musician and teacher, featuring jazz funk group 'The Tall Stories' with the 'Midnight Jazz band' playing Jazz classics.

Seren Sandham Davies, a local female vocalist also performed on the night.

Emma said: "The whole area looked amazing on the night and we hope to hold more events utilising the area to its full potential and working closely with the nearby residents.

"It is hoped that the wheel at the The Old Wire will be restored to its former glory.

"The Greenfield Bandstand community group will also be working closely with the Greenfield Heritage Park."
