A customer at a popular fast food chain in Wrexham has spoken of the reasoning behind why he shared a number of distressing videos of a man under the influence of drugs via social media.

Josh Evans, 18, from Minera, Wrexham, spoke candidly of the shocking incident he witnessed of the man in question, who was clearly intoxicated, losing his balance on a number of occasions and why he hopes the videos are the wake up call the town urgently needs.

He said: "On August 2, I went into McDonald's but whilst there, I needed the toilet.

The Leader:

"The man in the video had been in the toilet before me and as soon as he came out, asked me if I had any money for him.

"I simply told him that I didn't have any and the best place to be asking for some is outside, as there were loads of kids inside."

He added: "There must've been around four or five others outside. A few of them were asleep but two of them had woken up.

"He was not with it at all."

The video shows the man in a 'zombie' like state, where he is seen crouching and falling backwards before eventually leaning on the restaurant's window in full view of their customers.

There is also an altercation of some sort and shows the intoxicated man crouching on the floor whilst crying before he eventually passes out.

Mr Evans added: "It took about two minutes from when I spoke to him for him to get like that.

"Kids were walking past him and people actually came out of McDonald's to move their cars after they saw what was happening.

The Leader:

"There were loads of kids around at the time because it's the school holidays.

"It was only about 5pm in the afternoon, which is the time of day people finish work and take their kids for some food.

"I could see kids eating their food in the window next to him.

"It was horrible.

"I'm not really the kind of person that gets intimidated but it was rather intimidating.

"One of the men was foaming at the mouth."

The Leader:

When asked what motivated him to record and share the videos, Mr Evans, expressed his concerns over the negative impact these increasingly common incidents are having on the town in general.

He said: "I shared the video so people can see exactly what happens in Wrexham.

"Two police officers arrived but they just waited with them until they woke up and just moved them on.

"I was back in town the next day and I saw the same man sitting on the steps outside the bank, opposite McDonald's again.

The Leader:

"I want people to see that there's a real problem in the town."

Concerns have already been raised regarding frequent substance misuse outside the restaurant, which is popular amongst parents with young children.

Earlier this week, the Leader reported of another incident concerning Sue Moore, a mum from Connah's Quay, who spoke of her horror after children were seen "stepping over" discarded needles outside the restaurant during her lunch break on August 2.

She and several other parents were shocked to find several needles lying on the street outside the restaurant - some of which she said appeared to have drugs in.
