POLICE are issuing a warning to those attending Wrexham’s National League opener.

Saturday is the first official game of the season for Wrexham FC as they meet Barrow FC at the Racecourse and several hundred visiting supporters are expected.

The last two Wrexham FC friendly matches have seen large groups of teenagers aged between 12 and 17 attempting to cause disorder after the games have finished with flares being set off on both occasions.

North Wales Police have said they will not allow this kind of behaviour and are warning fans that they will take action if need be.

Supt Jane Banham said: “We will not tolerate any disorder at this or any other match and will take firm action against anyone who attempts to cause trouble.

“I would ask parents and guardians to make sure they know what their children are doing and to discourage them from gathering in these antisocial groups.

“Officers will be obtaining details from any youths who are seen to be acting in an antisocial or disorderly manner. If this issue continues, we will take further robust action to stop it.”
