A CHARITY 'challenge' in aid of local animal charities will be held in Flintshire this weekend.

The event - in aid North Clwyd Animal Rescue, John Williams Cat Refuge and Arkangels Animal Refuge - is in its seventh year and will take place at Saltney Tavern this Saturday at 7.30pm.

It will see teams take part in darts, pool, quiz and karaoke challenges, with all funds from the evening divided amongst the charities.

There will also be a free buffet, a cake auction and raffle - with the grand prize winner getting the chance to drive sports cars at Oulton Park race track.

Teams pay a £1 to enter each event, with first and second place getting trophies.

Patricia Liversage, organiser of the event, said: "We're in our seventh year and it gets bigger and better every year.

"We started at the Corner Pin pub but had to move premises as the event got too big.

"It will be a fun filled night and there are some great prizes on store in the raffle - we just want to give back to these brilliant charities which do such great work.

"I'd like to thank Geraldine Crawford in advance for letting us use Saltney Tavern once again, without which we wouldn't be able to stage this event."
