A HOLYWELL care home celebrated their annual Summer Fete despite the poor weather conditions.

Almost £1,000 was raised by staff, residents and visitors of Morfa Newydd Care Home which will go towards the residents fund.

The resident fund enabled staff to arrange days out and activity resources.

Roseann Avey Jones, social activities co-ordinator, said: "We are very grateful to residents and their families, staff and visitors who contributed to our table top sale, our fabulous raffle hampers and other prizes.

"Thank you to everyone who came on the day and participated in the fun despite the torrential rain. We all enjoyed a barbecue, cream teas and homemade cakes and a tropical themed table of fruit kebabs and beautiful items for sale.

"Our Residents can now look forward to outings and themed events throughout the year which they absolutely love. Thank you all."
