THE Met Office have launched an entertaining social media challenge to get ideas for their next list of storm names.
Suggestions are being taken on Facebook and Twitter this week by the British weather forecasters to get people’s ideas on their favourite possible storm names.
The public opinion poll comes four years after the Met Office first asked people to offer their ideas for possible storm names in 2015.
Thousands of suggestions have been received each time the weather forecasters appeal for storm names with it proving to be a similarly popular talking point this year too.
Stormy McStormface has emerged as an early favourite after the Met Office suggested it in their social media posts this morning (Tuesday).
But could your idea make the cut on what storms will be named from September 2019 until 2020?
For your chance to name a future storm, you can submit your ideas to the Met Office through
,
or email nameourstorms@metoffice.gov.uk.
Storm names are designed to raise awareness of the impacts of severe weather while also aiding in helping to keep people safe and prepared.
The time couldn’t be better to get thinking about storm names with Flintshire and Wrexham being warned by the Met Office about a mammoth
45-hour weather warning for thunderstorms and downpours
over Tuesday and Wednesday.
