HOLYWELL students praised for caring for lost dogs have received commendation by the town mayor.

Cllr Paul Johnson met with Ysgol Treffynon students

who spent two hours in torrential rain locating and looking after escaped dogs last month.

Four students were involved, Jac-Dion Jones, Charlie Richmond, Harri Dickinson and Matthew Hewitt, and three were on hand on the day to receive certificates from Cllr Johnson for their efforts.

A statement from Ysgol Treffynon read: "We had a special visit from the Mayor of Holywell, Cllr Paul Johnson.

"He came to see the students that made the press by helping to find two lost dogs on an evening when the weather was horrendous. They persisted and eventually got the dogs home safely.

"The Mayor presented them with a certificate to thank them for being good citizens and spoke to them about the importance of young people in the community in which they live.

"Not all boys were able to come today as they have left school but we will make sure they get their certificates. Well done, boys - a well deserved award."
