PUPILS from Wrexham have been performing at The Royal Albert Hall in London.

The 29 pupils from Theatretrain in Wrexham travelled to the English capital to perform alongside 1,400 other Theatretrain pupils from around the UK.

The group performed in front of 4,000 audience members at one of the UK’s most famous venues.

The production, named “Move!” brought together children from all over the UK to perform songs like “Bohemian Rhapsody”, “The Greatest Showman” and “Make Your Own Kind Of Music”.

Alongside this the pupils from Wrexham also took centre stage to perform their own version of “Never Tango With An Eskimo”, while local student, Bethan Williams also performed as a soloist.

Artistic Director for the schools in Chester, Wrexham and Mold, Steve Davies said: “I am so proud of our pupils.

“The Royal Albert Hall is a huge venue to fill, but their passion and excitement for the work filled the arena.

“This is a day that they will remember for the rest of their lives. We’ve received wonderful feedback from parents following the show.

“Everyone has said how thrilled they were to have been part of this experience.”

Before the show, Ian Lucas, MP called in to meet the children and to wish them luck for their performance.

Theatretrain is a weekend theatre school for children aged 3-18 and meets locally every Saturday morning at Ysgol Morgan Llwyd in Wrexham as well as in Mold and Chester on Friday evenings and Saturday mornings.

Each week children enjoy classes in singing, dancing and acting and work towards regular productions.

Theatretrain pride themselves on being ‘the company that loves to perform’ and they can regularly be seen in local venues in Wrexham, Chester and Mold as well as The Palace Theatre in Manchester and even The O2 in London.
