SCHOOL pupils have donated funds to a local social enterprise which aims to support equality and diversity.

Pupils at Flint High School have taken part in organising different fundraising activities to raise funds for a cause which they could show their support to.

Almost £200 was raised for RainbowBiz CIC.

Daz Cook, director, said: “It is amazing to see that the young have so much drive, spirit and show great kindness.

“The high schools amazing students have been fundraising and they wanted BIZ to be one of the recipients.

“We felt very honoured to be sitting at the front of the hall in front of hundreds of students.

“Watching the assembly was very special for us and it was a thrill. Thank you very much goes to Flint high school; you make a huge difference.”

Directors Daz Cook, Sarah Way and Sue Oliver attended an assembly at the school where they were presented with the cheque.

Funds raised will be donated towards the Digging Deeside project, which aims to bring people together through gardening activities.

Sarah Way said: “We’re honoured that the pupils at Flint High School chose our organisation RainbowBiz CIC to donate funds that they had raised throughout the year.

“We are excited to be able to spend this on fruit trees and plants for our social gardening project Digging Deeside."

The Leader has previously reported a spate of anti-social behaviour incidents in which the Mill Lane Allotments in Connah’s Quay – where Digging Deeside members meet for their group – has been subject to multiple acts of vandalism.

Sue Oliver added: “It was incredibly humbling and uplifting to be invited to attend the end of term assembly with the staff and pupils at Flint High School.

“Everyone made us feel so welcome and the pupils at the school are an absolute credit to the school.

“It is wonderful to know that they wanted to donate the monies they had raised to our social enterprise in order to support equality and diversity, something that is very close to our hearts."
