ORGANISERS of a forthcoming Flintshire equine event have urged all participants to ensure all required vaccinations have been completed.
The Leader reported recently how the Flint and Denbigh County Show issued a reminder that reminder that all attending horses must be properly vaccinated ahead of the event in August.
It followed an outbreak of confirmed cases of Equine Flu in Wales.
The team behind the Rhes y Cae Horse Show has now issued a similar announcement.
A spokesman for the show, which will take place on July 27, said: "Rhes-y-Cae Show committee have taken professional advice on the above matter (equine influenza), have considered all of our options very carefully and have decided that the show will go ahead subject to the following.
"By the day of the show, Saturday July 27, all horses attending must have had the two primary influenza vaccine injections (primary course) three weeks apart and must have followed the normal course of either six monthly or annual booster injections.
"All competitors must present the original passports for their horses (photocopies will not be accepted).
"These will be checked on the gate on arrival at the showground.
"Any horses that arrive at the showground without a passport showing the required vaccinations will, unfortunately, be turned away. No exceptions will be made.
"Further spot checks will be made as necessary throughout the day to ensure that the passports presented are for the correct horse.
"The welfare of all animals attending the show and local to the showground is paramount.
"Lastly, we ask that competitors also take precautions whilst on the showground by not letting horses touch each other or graze on the field.
"We also ask that horses be contained within their trailers / wagons where possible until their classes. We thank you for your understanding and support."
