A HISTORIC wedding venue in the heart of the Denbighshire countryside is on the market for £2million.

Eriviat Hall, on the outskirts of Henllan, near Denbigh, opened 10 years ago after a £3m refit.

It has proved popular for weddings, high-class hen and stag weekends and corporate events, but owner Conrad Proudlock says he has decided to retire.

There has been a hall on the site since the 15th century and was the home of 10 generations of the Foulkes family. The current property was built in the 1850s.

“It has been a labour of love, and the place is doing really well, but I feel that it’s time for someone else to take it on to the next level,” said Mr Proudlock.

Three years ago he objected to plans by Scottish Power to put overhead powerlines across the hall’s parkland to connect windfarms in Clocaenog Forest with a sub-station at Glascoed.

He said at the time that had he known of the proposal he would not have spent £3m on creating the wedding venue, but on Monday, July 15 he agreed that the cables did not had the adverse impact on the landscape which he had expected.

Last year Games of Thrones star Kit Harington, who plays Jon Snow, hired the hall for a stag weekend prior to his wedding to his co-star Rosie Leslie.
