SCORES of visitors turned out to enjoy a dance and cake at a Wrexham park.

The charity afternoon at Ty Mawr Country Park and was organised by Linden's Cupcakes.

Attendees took part in an organised walk around the viaduct and then the aqueduct, after which they were treated to afternoon tea followed by a dance.

The event took place on July 6 and raised £850 for the Alzheimer's Society.

Andrea Linden, who took on the cake shop which is based at the park last year, told the Leader she was delighted with the way the event went.

She explained: "A lot of those who came were people I had met at modern jive.

"Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the day and a lot of the dancers were getting the non-dancers up.

"It was a fantastic time and the place was buzzing - we were chock-a-block. People were asking for it to be held more often.

"I was blown away by the number of people who came and some of them came from further away including Liverpool, Yorkshire and the Midlands.

"They couldn't believe how lovely the park was.

"I am trying to make more people aware that there is this corner of North East Wales which is absolutely beautiful and get people out here, keeping fit and enjoying the surroundings."

Linden's Cupcakes also held a similar day in September in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support which raised £350.
