A TOWN is gearing up to host the return of its community carnival.

The Saltney Carnival will return on Saturday, July 20 at the St David's Sports Hall and field.

Donna Sue, who organised the event, said the carnival is returning in its second year in a bid to bring the community together.

She told the Leader: "This will be our second official year and I decided to bring it back because I think it really brings the community together.

"When the carnival used to run annually everyone got really involved and it created a nice buzz around Saltney.

"I’m hoping to build on it each year and introduce more of what we used to have."

The carnival will see over 40 stalls, fairground rides, competitions, pony rides and live performances from Deva Boxing Academy, Studio 13 Dance and more.

Attendees can also see the Cheshire and North Wales strongest man and woman with three times Wales Strongest Man Ben Badger Brunning in attendance - presenting trophies.

Donna added: "I think the carnival is good for the community because it creates an opportunity to bring everyone together and for everyone to have fun.

"I have lots planned and I hope that everyone enjoys the day.

"Funds raised on the day will be shared between local community groups including Deva Boxing Academy, Saltney Gymnastics Club and The Katy Weaver Fund.

"We are now also raising money for a local boy called Alfie who is from Saltney ferry. He has just been diagnosed with two brain tumours."

The carnival will be running from 10am to 4pm.
