CHIRK-based wood panel manufacturer Kronospan has funded the purchase of new laptops for Pentre school.

Year 6 pupils Angelica Allum and Dylan Evans wrote to the company asking for help with achieving their IT targets from the school curriculum.

Angelica Allum said: "We do not have many laptops at Pentre School so the new laptops which are called Chromebooks, are really needed so we can all learn together while we do our work."

Thanking Kronospan, 11-year-old Dylan Evans said: "We are trying to expand our learning and achieve our full potential, so we really wanted these laptops for our school work."

Headteacher Helen Pugh said: “Keeping up to date with IT is vital for the children here at Pentre School. We are very grateful to Kronospan for their help as they are the latest Chromebooks.

"They really enhance the educational experience for all the children."

Kronospan chairman Mike McKenna said: "Angelica and Dylan wrote to us asking for help with new IT at Pentre School.

"Chromebooks are portable, convenient and the future of learning, so we were delighted to purchase them as they are the best available laptops for use in schools."
