POLICE seized Mamba and a taser gun when they raided a Wrexham man’s home, a court heard.

Dealer Shaun Young was caught in possession of the Class B drug which he had divided into packets for selling on. He also had a taser which he told officers he needed for protection as “a man was after him”.

The court was told that as the taser was not classed as a “concealed firearm” Young would not fall to be sentenced to a minimum prison term of five years.

But North East Wales magistrates declined jurisdiction and chose to send his case to Mold Crown Court with all sentencing options open.

Prosecutor Robert Blakemore said 705g of the drugs were found in Young’s bedroom and the defendant admitted the consignment was his along with the taser.

“In fairness to him he made full admissions to possession of the items and said he intended to supply the drugs to others,” said the prosecutor.

Unemployed Young said he had been tempted to sell the Mamba to make some money.

In all eleven packets were recovered by police with a combined street value of £330.

Young, 29, of Bryn Hafod, Wrexham admitted possession of fluoro-Mdmd-Pinaca1 and the unauthorised possession of an electrical capacitation device on May 24 last year.

Young was granted unconditional bail until his sentencing on August 8 and magistrates ordered a probation report was prepared on him.
