THE sun was shining for the return of a popular village carnival event.

Hundreds gathered for the return of Hawarden Carnival, which took place on Saturday on Gladstone Playing Fields.

The free event ran from 12pm until 5pm, giving families a chance to enjoy a fun-filled day out with a fun fair, live music, food stalls, a junior football tournament, bar, tennis coaching, gymnastic displays and much more taking place.

Helen Brown, one of the Hawarden Carnival organisers, said: “We had a brilliant day, lots for everyone and plenty of entertainment. We absolutely love this carnival as it brings our community together. We are a small team that pull this day together and we thank each and every one who helps create the day.

“It is an ideal opportunity for all of our local artists, businesses and organisations to showcase their talent. We would like to thank each and every one who attended our carnival, we really do work hard to make sure you have the best day, we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.”

Hawarden Carnival is put together by a small team of local residents - Darren Sterry, Helen Rees, Ant Turton, Lowri Earith, Ralph Small, Clare Rudd, Fran Jones, Sharron Jones and Sarah Hinks.
