A WREXHAM man admitted using his van while over the drug drive limit.
David Elwyn Edwards, 32, was stopped by police officers in an unmarked vehicle while driving around Wrexham Technology Park at about 7.20pm on February 16, 2019.
Rhian Jackson, prosecuting, said that after stopping him, officers noticed Edwards was “jittery, nervous and sweating profusely” which the officers found strange because it was a cold evening.
A drug swipe proved positive and Edwards, of Charles Street, Wrexham, was taken to Llay Police Station where two further tests were carried out giving a result of 230 (ug/L)a of benzoylecgonine in his blood. The legal limit is 50 (ug/L)a.
Rebecca Boswell, defending, said her client recognised he needed some help and was “embarrassed and ashamed” to appear in court.
Deputy district judge, Andrew Jebb, fined Edwards £120 and ordered him to pay costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £30. He was disqualified from driving for 12 months.
