When did you open and why?

March 2016 - because there wasn't a high end yarn shop in the district anymore.

Why did you open in this location?

It just became vacant at the right time.

Tell us about your business/what do you sell?

I sell knitting and crochet yarn and it's all natural fibres. There's no polyester or acrylic.

Some of my yarns have a little bit of nylon in for strength and I have lots of British fibres. I mainly do British yarn companies.

I am trying to keep it as local as possible. I have four lots of alpaca which all come from a three-mile radius. One's hand spun and the others aren't.

I have Cambrian wool, which is a Welsh yarn and a range of other British fibre yarns.

The Leader:

What's your most memorable/proudest moment in business?

I think it's when you get a customer coming back in having finished a garment or project they didn't think they could do and they have done it on their own or with a little help.

So it's definitely the end result and watching them wear it and hearing they have had people stop them in the street and ask where they got it.

Have you had any strange requests/quirky suggestions or stories from customers?

It's mainly things like - 'where can I get a fleece spun' and sometimes 'where can I get my dog fur spun'. It's a fairly rare request, that one. Other than that it's fairly standard requests for things I don't do.
