FOOTBALL fans have helped raised even more money for The Children's Ward at Wrexham Maelor Hospital.

The Spirit of ’58 and The Fat Boar Wrexham donated a further £750, bringing their total donations, to date, to £1,500 after hosting their second Match day Mini Music Festival.

The first of these events took place after Wrexham's home game against Bromley last August, with the most recent instalment taking place after Wales hosted Trinidad and Tobago on March 20.

Jamie Jones from The Fat Boar Wrecsam said: "Our events aim to directly support the local community, support Welsh up and coming bands/artists whilst offering a superb day and evening for fans and customers to enjoy together.

"We always try to make it extra special by putting on a special one off burger for fans to enjoy. This charity cause is close to our hearts as many of us have experienced firsthand the fantastic care the children’s ward provide for our kids and we really appreciate the extra resources made available, like the play room, to help make it easier during those visits”."

Tim Williams, owner of Spirit of ’58, which sell Welsh football memorabilia and is based in Bala said:

"We are proud to be able to co-host these events for Wales and Wrexham football fans and the local community to enjoy, whilst being able to give back to the Wrexham Maelor Children’s Ward who provide such a valuable service for families and young people.

"We are lucky that our Welsh football fans at our event had such a passion to support their national team whilst seeing the value in giving back to their communities and having fun.

"We are very grateful to everyone who came along to support the event which was a great success."

Emma Cunnah-Newell, Play Specialist at the Wrexham Maelor Children’s Ward added:

“We would like to say a huge thank you for this very kind donation which will contribute towards the development of play services which we deliver to our patients.”

The organisers plan to hold another event with Wrexham fans in aid of the Children’s Ward with dates to be announced following the announcements of the next season’s fixtures.
