A DISUSED Flintshire pub is set for a new lease of life after plans were passed to change the use of the building.

The Glynne Arms pub, in Buckley, has been vacant for around two years now, but that will not be the case for much longer.

Flintshire County Council recently approved proposals to change the use of the existing public house into that of a residential dwelling of three flats.

The plans have also passed for there to be parking available to future residents at the site on Drury Lane.

About the conversion of the pub, Chair of the Buckley Town Council planning committee, Councillor Mike Peers, said: “It’s (The Glynne Arms) has stood derelict for some time now.

“It was on the market for a lengthy period of time but there were no takers as it doesn’t seem to be a viable option to buyers.

“It’s always sad to lose a pub, and there’s been a few that have gone in the town recently. But, on a positive note, at least we’re getting a small housing development out of it.”

Health and safety signs have gone up around the boundary of the site, and work to convert the building into three flats is believed to begin imminently.
