WREXHAM Council have purchased new properties from a developer to add to its housing stock.

The properties at Maes Gwyrdd in Gwersyllt are two bedroom and have a lounge, kitchen diner, downstairs toilet, plenty of storage, a driveway and a secure spacious garden.

This is the first purchase of its kind for the authority, which is delivering a Build and Buy Programme that also includes buying back former council properties, building new council housing and working with developers to provide social housing on new build developments.

The properties have been purchased from Gower Homes.

Michael Forgrave, managing director of Gower Homes said: “It’s a pleasure to be working with Wrexham Council on this project to provide high quality social housing, to support the local community.”

Councillor David Griffiths, lead member for housing, said: “We are very proud to be working in partnership with local developer, Gower Homes, to provide new homes for our tenants.

"This is a new step for the council and we hope to develop many more new houses in the future.”

Gwersyllt West County Cllr Gwenfair Jones added: "The properties at Maes Gwyrdd will provide lifetime homes for our tenants.

"I am proud to have these new build houses in my ward, which will soon be filled with tenants from our housing waiting list."
