A DRUNK driver who collided with two police officers has received a three-year ban.

Craig Wood was spotted driving his silver Range Rover very slowly on Town Hill in Wrexham and was pulled over.

But as he did so he made contact with the knee of one of the officers and the other one’s hand.

Prosecutor Helen Tench told North East Wales Magistrates Court that the alarm was raised after Wood was seen driving very close to pedestrians and at one stage mounted the pavement.

A breath test at the police station showed he had consumed 63mg of alcohol in 100ml of breath, the legal limit being 35.

Neither of the two officers were hurt and Wood’s solicitor, Nick Cross, told the Mold court: “He (Wood) says there was very light contact with the officers.

“It was a moment of stupidity and he deeply regrets his actions.”

Wood, 32, of Fairfield, Brymbo, admitted drink-driving and driving without due care and attention in Wrexham on June 8.

He was fined £430 and told to pay costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £32.

He was also offered a drink drive awareness course to reduce the length of his ban.
