DELYN’s MP has met with representatives from the Great British High Street Awards to discuss how towns within the constituency could take part in this prestigious award.

The Great British High Street Awards return in search of the UK’s most dynamic high streets that not only bring local communities together but pave the way for the high streets of tomorrow.

Run by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government, and in partnership with Visa, the awards aim to celebrate the amazing work that local businesses and individuals put into their communities – with towns in with the chance of winning up to £15,000.

David Hanson MP said: “The success of Holywell last year was extraordinary. They demonstrated that a strong civic minded community can make a huge difference to a town and its high street. Securing a highly commended award and being one of only a handful of towns in Wales to reach the finals was a tremendous boon for the town. Now the application is open for 2019 I have written to each of our four towns in Delyn calling on them to enter.

“Caerwys, Flint, Holywell and Mold each have their own unique selling points. Be it the heritage of Caerwys, the thriving community spirit of Flint, the forward-looking Holywell or the cultural hub that is Mold each has something special to offer and would be well deserving of the title ‘Great British High Street 2019’.”

All towns have until July 4 to apply. More information can be found here: https://thegreatbritishhighstreet.co.uk/
