WHILE the weather wasn't particularly summer-like, a Dee Valley event still proved to be popular.

On a rather inclement Saturday, an intrepid team of Rotarians, Inner Wheel members and helpers braved the elements to set up the Llangollen Rotary summer fete at Plas Newydd.

This year, organisers were helped by some members of the Llangollen Ladies rugby team, Llangollen Scouts and friends. After a few wrongly assembled poles, the tents and marquees were ready for the stalls, guests and the Llangollen Silver Band.

Meanwhile, equally intrepid members of the public were setting up their own stalls and the re-enactment group was honing its fighting skills.

The fete opened at 2pm and despite the weather, members of the public turned out to provide their support.

At the end of the day, while everyone was tired, it had been a good and worthwhile event.

It is estimated that the Rotary and Inner Wheel made about £1,000.

The final total will be published once all money is in and the cost has been deducted.

However, more importantly, it gave a venue for others to fund raise, promote their organisations and it entertained many in the local community.

A big thanks goes from organisers to the Llangollen Ladies rugby team, the Scouts, stall holders and members of the public.
