LLANGOLLEN will be in the television spotlight later this week.

The town will be the subject of a full episode of S4C travel series, Codi Pac, which showcases hidden gems and places of interest in towns across Wales.

At the start of the programme, host Geraint Hardy makes his arrival into town by paddling along the Dee on a river bug, before being taken on a guided tour by local historian Sarah Jones, to learn about the town’s heritage and the international Eisteddfod.

He continues on the tourist trail by venturing over to Plas Newydd to survey the house’s striking gothic interior, explore the gardens and to hear about the home’s original owners, the famed Ladies of Llangollen, Eleanor Butler and Sarah Ponsonby.

Later, he goes to see classic cars and motorbikes at the Motor Museum, enjoys a horse-drawn boat ride along the canal and visits Llangollen spa to unwind.

A host of local bars, restaurants and hotels are showcased throughout the programme, including the Three Eagles, the Cellar Door cocktail bar, Gales Wine Bar, Cornerstones and Manor House.

Codi Pac will be shown at 8.25pm on Friday 28 June on S4C, with English subtitles available. The episode will also be available to watch on demand at S4C Clic and BBC iPlayer.
