A COMMUNITY tennis club in Hawarden is hoping to introduce hundreds of local children to the sport this weekend with a club open day.

The event is aimed at providing children from ages 3 to eleven an opportunity to have fun by learning to play tennis.

Mike Herd, head coach, said: "Some of these kids will have never played tennis before and opening up our club like this to let them have a go and try out a few games in a proper environment like the club hosts could create some brand new members for life. It can be a great way to get kids active and promote teamwork and communication skills.

There are two sessions being held by Hawarden Community Tennis Club on the Gladstone playing fields, - running from 10.30am to 12 noon and 2pm until 3.30pm.
