A TOWN football club has secured a sponsorship deal it is hoped will leave a legacy in the community.

Offa-based Brickfield Rangers, who play have struck a sponsorship package with internet marketing based organisation Soccer Million.

The Clywedog Park club's sporting director Andrew Ruscoe who helped secure the deal, said: "Brickfield Rangers are excited to be entering into a new partnership with the community minded Soccer Million”.

"The opportunity to develop our existing facilities and services with the support of Soccer Million is a huge step forward for us as a multi-sport club which will hopefully grow our youth legacy in the town of Wrexham.

"It will enable us to compete again but we haven't secured this deal just to win promotion. We want to be running a Football of Wales (FAW) youth academy to give children in the community the opportunity to play football at the highest standards possible.

"We look at what is being done at Flint Town United with their academy and that is a model we are aspiring to here in Wrexham.

"It is about creating opportunities for kids from all backgrounds, but in order for us to do that the first-team has to be doing better."

He added: "It is important we keep our Wrexham identity and recruit players from the area but the aim is to get promotion as quickly as possible.

"Chairman and founder Paul Hooson will still very much be involved and we have more plans for ground improvements at Clywedog Park and to expand our Futsal set-up."

A spokesman for Soccer Million said: "For several years we've been very impressed with Brickfield's work in the Wrexham community and their development of the club to FA Wales Gold Standard.

"We want to help them develop the club and maintain and expand their excellent community programmes. We look forward to working with Paul Hooson and Andrew Ruscoe and achieving success on and off the pitch."

Brickfield Rangers chairman Paul Hooson added: “From the first day Brickfield Rangers was formed by a band of enthusiastic parents in 1976, one of its key objectives has been to get all community groups involved in the beautiful game and with this new amazing sponsorship deal we can now enable more young people to access our clubs provisions and aim to challenge for the Welsh National League Premier Title”

"We would like to thank Soccer Million for this amazing opportunity."
