A CHARITY is gearing up for its first family fun day this Father's Day.

The RSPCA Wrexham District and Deeside Branch is encouraging people to attend their first One Fun Day at Alyn Waters Country Park with family and beloved pooches.

Attendees can enjoy a day of stalls, food and drink, face painting, crafts, entertainment and the chance to be crowned the winner in the first ever nationwide Ponycycle championships.

The One Fun Day is taking place simultaneously at 20 RSPCA centres and branches across England and Wales on June 16 - the charity’s 195th birthday - and is a chance to learn what the charity does in the local area as well as raise funds to help it continue their vital work.

Dylan Evans, Event Manager at the RSPCA, said: "Our One Fun Day is focusing on bringing other charities, trades, animal lovers and families together to have fun whilst showing their support for the work of the RSPCA.

"There will be everything from a dog show, fun stalls, games and food to the chance to test out your riding skills on one of our ponycycles. The event takes place on Father’s Day so why not bring your dad and see if he can beat riders from around the country to be crowned ponycycle champion 2019."

Visitors can also enjoy classes such as the 'Dog most like Dad' and 'Best Paw Shaker'.

The dog show will start at 12.30pm with special guest MP Ian Lucas who will host the award ceremony.

One Fun Day will help raise money for RSPCA Wrexham and District branch to continue to help animals in their locality. In 2018, the branch helped more than 1,000 animals last year with subsided vet care.
