A TOWN centre festival is to bring community groups together.

Join community organisations and local businesses to make the day a celebration of all things Wrexham.

The town centre will be bustling with activity on Saturday, June 29.

There will be businesses, charities, community groups, volunteers and artists bringing the streets of the town to life.

Starting at 8am on Queen’s Square, Bellevue FC will hold a 12-hour football tournament, featuring some of the key community organisations including CLPW Women’s team and a penalty shoot-out with AVOW’s mascot Ollie the Octopus.

AVOW’s Annual Volunteers’ Day will bring representatives from many voluntary organisations across Wrexham county borough, raising awareness for their causes and the Third Sector generally.

As part of the festivities, Ian Lucas MP for Wrexham has organised the first Wrexham Brass Band Festival, following on from the consistent success of Wrexham Singing Streets.

At Ty Pawb, Techniquest will explore the theme of ‘Flight’ with their pop-up experiments and there will be two art exhibitions in the galleries ‘Futbolka’ and ‘Nine Nectarines and Other Porcelain’.

Pottery Painting is available to the public at Cwtch Ceramics with a day of community painting with Piccolo Crafts.

Continuing through the 'arts trail' of Wrexham up to The Wrexham Independent Gallery (TWIG) hosting an Art Taster class with hot drinks and cakes, alongside their ‘Faces of Wrexham’ exhibition by Adrian Medcalfe.

Other events throughout the town include cupcake decorating with Emz Cakes, ‘Wrexham Look-up’ Street Art Installation at Central Arcade and a performance by Farndon Band as part of the Wrexham Brass Band Festival at Eagles Meadow.

Through the centre of town the Wrexham Continental Street Market will offer a variety of continental foods, produce, crafts and knick-knacks.

St Giles Parish Church is hosting their popular ‘Tower Climbs Tours’ up the church tower, one of the seven wonders of Wales.

Saturday, June 29 will bring together key features of the town and surrounding area in one community extravaganza across Wrexham town centre.
