AN MP has supported a school’s war on plastic waste.

Students from Ysgol Dinas Bran School Council in Llangollen were given the chance to talk about their environmental concerns with their MP for Clwyd South, Susan Elan Jones.

The secondary school is a ‘Keep Wales Tidy Platinum Eco School’ who have put sustainability and protecting the environment at the forefront of their school ethos.

During the meeting, Clwyd South MP Ms Jones chatted with students about their ‘Go Green’ campaign against the use of polystyrene foam in schools and the need to reduce single use plastics.

Susan Elan Jones MP said: “It’s been a very enjoyable and interesting visit. I am especially pleased to hear the pupils talk with so much passion about this critically important subject.

" people are at the forefront of environmental campaigns, many of whom are taking practical steps on matters like the reduction of plastic usage.

“I wholeheartedly support Ysgol Dinas Bran’s campaign; indeed, I have recently signed a pledge to call for a strong Environmental Bill to tackle these issues and have made many formal representations about the environment both in debates in the House of Commons Chamber and in written submissions."

She added: "I have also made a personal commitment to reduce plastic use and recycle more myself. I would like to thank the teacher Mr Andrew Wallis for arranging this very informative visit."
