POLICE presence will be increasing on Holywell High Street.

North Wales Police will have a round-the-clock presence in the town’s high street area with a base set up in the Flintshire Connects building on the high street.

Russ Warburton, chair of the Holywell Business Group, said: “This is great news, not only for the businesses, but the whole community of Holywell. We want to thank Inspector Gareth Cust and his team for listening to concerns of the community and acting on this.”

Russ added that Flintshire County Council, Holywell Town Council, the Business Group and the community will be working together with North Wales Police to make Holywell a safer place to live, work and shop.

The town council have also welcomed this move and seeing that extra resources are being utilised in Holywell.

Cllr Ted Palmer, who represents Central Holywell, added: “We as a council have been working with the police for some time now to facilitate this, including the provision of extra parking that is specifically for police vehicles. ”

Siobhan Edwards, Chief Inspector for North Wales Police, said: “We have taken the concerns of the business community and local councillors seriously. A 24-hour presence in the heart of the town, in the same building as our partners will allow us work more effectively together.

“This will ensure that we provide a good service to all members of our community and those who are visiting the area. Police Officers will be more accessible to members of the public and we look forward to building on our good working relationships with them, our communities and partners”.
