CONCERNS have been raised over anti-social behaviour in a Flintshire town.

Cllr Mike Evans, of the Shotton East Ward, said he has received complaints from residents regarding Summerfield carpark.

At their monthly meeting, members discussed the severity of anti-social behaviour and what can be done.

Cllr Evans said: “It’s important for us to get in touch with 101 but I don’t think anyone around this table knows what is happening around this carpark and the severity of it.

“I think we should be somehow trying to block the entrance off because at the moment it’s not being used as a supermarket or anything.

“Residents have been in touch around Brook road. There has been activity there on Friday evening as well. Is there any way we can block it? It may be a key issue but it’s our residents that are affected.

“We have got to do something sooner rather than later. It’s lives involved.”

Cllr Evans asked if the carpark could be blocked off in a bid to prevent further issues, however Streetscene officers said that would not be a viable option.

Wayne Jones, of Streetscene, said: “It’s an active carpark and it’s a police issue. They have got to step up and deal with it.

“At the end of the day we have got access to the allotments there, it’s not a case of closing the carpark.”

Cllr Gary Cooper added: “Can I suggest we write to Connah’s Quay Town Council to ask what they are doing, it’s nothing to do with Shotton.

“I’m perfectly aware of what the residents of Brook Road are going through but at the end of the day it is Connah’s Quay town council who have got to deal with it.”

Councillors voted in favour of writing to Connah’s Quay council.
