A WREXHAM politician is encouraging people to venture outdoors and enjoy the region’s natural beauty spots.

Lesley Griffiths AM, is a long term supporter of Walkabout Wrexham & District, a group that have organised the Wrexham Walking Festival, which takes place from Saturday, June 1 to Sunday, June 9 2019.

People of all ages and abilities are invited to come along and enjoy a series of free walks exploring the splendour and history of North East Wales, and although the festival normally lasts a week, it has been extended this year to cross over two weekends in the hope to make it even more accessible.

Lesley Griffiths said: “As well as promoting our region’s picturesque surroundings, the Wrexham Walking Festival is all about encouraging people to live healthier lifestyles and I commend Walkabout Wrexham & District for all their efforts.

“Their annual festival has attracted people from across the UK to visit Wrexham and North East Wales and I hope this year’s event will be the most successful yet.”

During the festival, walks take place daily and are graded depending on difficulty. All walks are free of charge and are led by trained leaders. Participants are reminded to wear suitable clothing and boots.
