A RURAL charity that tackles social isolation and loneliness wants to make meeting your neighbours seem like a picnic.
In a try to help change the fact that just one in five residents in the UK have met their neighbours, the South Denbighshire Community Partnership (SDCP) in Corwen will take part in the Big Lunch next half-term.
The nationwide event aims to bring “millions of people together to share food, have fun and get to know each other better,” a Big Lunch spokesperson said. “It’s a simple idea - that for a few glorious hours, cars stop, shyness stops and neighbours come together in the street to meet, greet, share, swap, sing, plan and laugh.”
The SDCP will host a woodland walk up to Coed Pen Y Pigin, before having a picnic lunch on the grass near Canolfan Ni, Corwen.
Margaret Sutherland, SDCP manager, said: “Come along and join in the fun in your community!”
The event takes place on Tuesday, May 28.
