A TOWN council has welcomed its new mayor for the forthcoming year.

At a meeting of Holywell Town Council on Tuesday May 21, members were asked to elect the town mayor for upcoming year as well as position of deputy mayor.

The departing mayor, Cllr Rosetta Dolphin passed the title onto her deputy mayor - Cllr Paul Johnson with his wife Sue Johnson becoming his mayoral consort for the forthcoming civic year.

The town's next deputy mayor was also selected at the annual general meeting held– namely Cllr Lynda Carter.

Opened formally by the Town Crier, Chris Baglin, the annual general meeting took place at St Peter’s Church in Rosehill.

Holywell Town Council hold their monthly meetings on the third Tuesday of each month, excluding August when the council take recess, which are open for the public to attend and are typically held at the Town Council Office, in Bank Place.
