A MOTORCYCLIST was airlifted to hospital following a three vehicle collision on the outskirts of Llandegla on Tuesday evening.

The incident happened on the A5104 shortly before 7pm, with the road having to be partially closed while the air ambulance landed in a nearby field, close to the scene.

Despite being airlifted to Shrewsbury hospital, the biker's injuries were not as bad as first suspected and the road was cleared soon after.

A spokesman for Wales Air Ambulance said: "Our crew were mobile at 18:52 and arrived at the incident at 19:04. Following treatment at the scene from our onboard consultant and critical care practitioner, we left the area at 20:01 and flew the patient to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, arriving at 20:15. Our involvement was completed at 20:45."

PC Thomas Hough, of North Wales Police, said on Twitter that enquiries will be ongoing and thanked Denbighshire Rural and West Conwy Coastal Police for their assistance.
