A PROLIFIC burglar with more than 200 offences to his name has pleaded guilty to a string of burglaries across Wrexham.

Appearing at Mold Crown Court via video link from HMP Altcourse in Liverpool, Ioan McKenzie was told by Judge Niclas Parry to expect a long sentence after he admitted seven offences dating back to December 2018.

McKenzie, 41, admitted driving a Seat Leon car while disqualified on Ruthin Road, Wrexham, on December 11, 2018 as well as the burglary of a property in Coedpoeth.

He also pleaded guilty to the attempted burglary of a property in Caia Park, Wrexham, on December 19 as well as the burglary of a shed at another property in Caia Park on the same evening.

McKenzie, of Coed Aben, Caia Park, also pleaded guilty to a charge of aggravated vehicle-taking and driving while disqualified after he stole a Mercedes which he later crashed into a fence also on December 19.

On both occasions he was driving with no insurance.

McKenzie, who the court heard had 219 criminal offences, will be sentenced on May 14 at Mold Crown Court.
