A WORKER in Wrexham has described the experience of being evacuated from their work place because of a pizza box.

Police arrived at the corner of Regent Street and Caxton Place in Wrexham at around 12:30pm on Tuesday, May 6, where employees of Remploy were evacuated from the building.

The worker who remained anonymous, described the situation in which they and their colleagues were ushered out of the building next to Papa John’s, by police.

“The police arrived and we were all evacuated from the building, every single one of us, and we all gathered round on the corner of the road, sort of wondering what was going on.

“We were told that there had been a report that a suspicious package had been spotted round the back of the building, and so for safety concerns we had to leave and wait outside.

“To be fair to the officers they were very prompt and swift to deal with the situation.

“After about five or ten minutes we were told we could go back inside the building because it had been determined that the item was actually nothing more than a pizza box.”

After the employees re-entered the building, the worker told us it was a situation that a lot of the employees had a laugh about, but praised the effort of North Wales Police, saying that despite how silly it all was, they took the right steps to deal with.

“Obviously when it’s first reported it’s a very serious situation and so it was probably right to get us out of the building.

“As I said before they were very quick and swift to make sure everything was okay as well so they were doing their jobs right.

“But then you find out it was actually just a pizza box the whole time and you have to sort of have to see the funny side of it all.

“It was all something of nothing at the end of the day.”
