A JURY considering the case of a former soldier who denied raping a woman while she slept has been discharged from reaching a verdict.
Former soldier Callum Maher was told a retrial would be held in September.
The judge, Mr Recorder John Philpotts, was told the jury of seven men and five women had been out deliberating for nearly seven hours.
When the Mold Crown Court jury foreman indicated there was no prospect of a verdict on which at least 10 of them agreed, the judge thanked them and discharged them.
Maher was rebailed on condition that he had no contact with the complainant and was told to return to Mold Crown Court for a retrial on September 2.
Maher, 32, formerly of Wrexham but now of Kingsworthy, Winchester, Hampshire, denied raping a 29-year-old in September 2017.
