POLICE are now appealing for witnesses and any information after swan eggs have been smashed at a nearby castle.
The swans at Whittington Castle had laid several eggs which were soon to hatch.
However on Thursday, some of the eggs were found destroyed or cracked by the side of the castle moat.
Bricks were spotted in the vicinity but it has not been confirmed if they were used to damage the eggs.
Oswestry SNT have now launched an appeal for information to find out if anybody knows how the eggs were damaged.
Oswestry SNT Twitter said: "Appeal. Overnight the eggs in the swan's nest on the moat at the castle have been destroyed.
"If you have any information please call 101 quoting 0260s 250419."
