AN animal rescue centre has taken to social media to update well-wishers on the Queensferry pony situation.

Ark Angels Rescue confirmed in a lengthy Facebook post that they now have legal ownership of the young pony after being into the care of the rescue charity yesterday evening, Tuesday, after speculation over what had happened and where the horse was.

The Saltney-based charity say that they were first made aware of the incident where the pony was caught on video that went viral on April 17 rearing up onto its back legs before collapsing on The Range car park in Queensferry and later shared on local social media pages, the Leader previously reported.

A spokesman for the charity posted on social media: “Ark Angels Animal Rescue have worked hard as a volunteer rescue group to help as many animals as we can. We have been going for many years with an amazing woman at our helm with fantastic volunteers and supporters

“We were lucky enough to secure this pony into our care. We know other rescues tried but were not successful for reasons we are not privy to. Many people helped Gary by sharing, talking about the situation and contacting rescues. We just happened to be his final destination.

The Leader:

“Our goal is to give our followers regular updates and photos and allow you to see his journey with us in our care.”

It was also confirmed that the yearling – now renamed Lucky Star – was cared for at a riding school over the four-day Easter weekend and gave his medication at no cost.

More information about the pony, and how to donate, can be found on the Ark Angels Rescue Facebook page
