THE OWNER of a family-run furniture shop is calling for help after £8,000 worth of his stock was stolen from a warehouse.

Andy Hughes, owner of Connah's Quay-based Coast Road Furniture, has issued an appeal via Facebook to trace several stolen pieces of furniture.

He said burglars broke into his company's warehouse in Flint some time between Tuesday afternoon and Thursday morning

About 20 pieces of stock were taken including beds, sofa beds, mattresses, a selection of carpets and vinyl and others.

The total value was about £8,000 or more, he estimates.

Mr Hughes said: "The roller shutter door on the warehouse has been forced and someone must have climbed under and attacked the lock on the back of the door.

"They were then able to roll the doors open and they must have had a very large van.

"They have stolen property including three-piece-suites, beds carpets – enough to fit out a whole house.

"We have made an insurance claim but it won't cover everything.

"It's a large amount of money for a small family business like this. It's a lot of profit we have lost.

"Any help to trace the offenders would be really appreciated and we can offer a reward."

Mr Hughes said one of the most upsetting aspects of the break-in is that the items taken were due to go to customers.

He added: "We have rung around everyone and spoken to the manufacturers.

"We're having everything remade and our customers have been very understanding."

A spokesman for North Wales Police confirmed that a warehouse in Flint was broken into and a number of items were taken.

"Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information should contact us on 101 or via out live webchat, quoting reference X052361."
