HANDBAGS were among items taken as thieves went on a late night spree of burglaries in Flintshire.

Police said three separate incidents occurred in Buckley overnight on Tuesday (April 16).

Properties on the Holly Close and Avondale Road, and a car on Eglwys Close, were broken into in the early hours of Tuesday.

Thieve gained entry to the house on Holly Close by unscrewing the handle and snapping the lock on the doors of the property's conservatory, police said.

Police said the property in Avondale Road was entered via the back door, where a handbag containing cash, a purse, car and house keys was taken.

Meanwhile, a car parked on Eglwys Close was broken into, and CDs and cash were taken.

It follows the break in of a house on Stanley Road in Buckley on April 8, in which spare house and garage keys were taken.

Nina Minicki, whose house was targeted in the incident, said: "We’ve had our spare key stolen and had to replace locks same night.

"And the following day, a dark blue van was spotted with three men in front of our garage. Thankfully it drove off quickly when our daughter came down the path."

A North Wales Police spokesman said: "We have received a number of calls this morning regarding the following incidents overnight in Buckley.

"A car in Eglwys Close was broken into, a property in Holly Close was broken into via the conservatory and a property in Avondale Road was entered via the back door.

"All three incidents resulted in items, including handbags, being taken.

"Enquiries are ongoing, and we would remind residents to ensure that their properties and vehicles are securely locked.

"Any handbags and car keys should be kept out of sight."
